Looking for a spot to get away from it all? Get back to nature or get your fill of delicious farm-fresh food and locally brewed beverages? In the Berkshires, there’s not better home base no matter what your vacation goals might be.
Year-round, Lanesborough is your place to:
Stretch Your Legs
Trails abound for everything from mountain biking to hiking and snowshoeing. The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail offers accessible outdoor enjoyment on foot, roller-blade or bicycle.
Strap on Your Skis
Cross country skis are also welcome on the Rail Trail and in Balance Rock State Park. Or, if you’re hitting the slopes at nearby Jiminy Peak, take a break at Hendrick’s Summit Lodge – you’ll be in Lanesborough!
Traverse the treetop trails at Ramblewild, navigating their eight aerial obstacle courses that include zip-lines, suspended bridges, rope ladders, and high wires – open year-round! Or, head to the top of Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts, with a stop along the way at the Visitors Center.
Grab Some Grub
From north to south, you’ll find plenty of affordable and delicious food in Lanesborough. Catch the views from the deck at Lakeside Bar and Grill, or be wowed by the beer list and award-winning wings at Ye Olde Forge.
Check out Lakeview Orchards for pick-your-own berries, pears and apples – plenty of cider and donuts to satisfy your fall cravings! Visit our many farms for produce or meats, or stop by the farmers market for locally grown treats.
Stay at the pet-friendly Mt. Greylock Campsite Park that’s packed with family fun: playground, swimming pool, and recreation hall. From here, you can access the many outdoor and cultural amenities the Berkshires are known for.
Make a Splash
Pontoosuc Lake is the perfect place to enjoy all sorts of water sports. Rent a boat and explore one of the largest lakes in the Berkshires with some swimming, paddling, water-skiing, or fishing. Ice fishing is popular here, and Pontoosuc is a destination for tiger muskies.
