The Board of Health is composed of three members appointed by the Selectmen. There is also a Health Agent who is appointed by the Board of Health.
The Board of Health is responsible for protecting public health and the environment. They are also responsible for disease control.
The Board of Health issues permits for wells and septic systems, inspects restaurants and motels, condemns dangerous or irreparable buildings, and works with the Visiting Nurses' Association to provide limited health services, including flu shots and screenings.
The Town of Lanesborough does not provide trash or recycling pickup.
Board of Health Regulations
Annual food permit applications must be received on or before December 16th for renewal. Any applications received after December 16th shall incur an additional $25 late fee, which must be paid prior to the issuance of the food permit. Seasonal operations and new establishments must submit an application at least 2 weeks prior to the expected opening date.
